Cropped Shana

Revisiting: Air-conditioning at Mastery Charter School Really Blows!. Elaine gives the answer to last month’s quiz.

Does anyone, per chance, remember last month’s exciting quiz? Here it is again for those who missed it:

Shana, don’t look now, but it’s time for another exciting hpathy quiz!

Cropped Shana

Who’s the poor soul this time?

You!

Oh no! Not me again! I don’t want to be the patient anymore!

Shana; but, think about it, the whole world will benefit by hearing your tale of woe.

If you say so. Do I have a choice?

Not really….

Alright, then. Ahem!  It all started at “Career Day” at Mastery Charter School.

That’s more like it! Now, as I’m sure you remember, when I dropped you off at school in the morning, you were fine. But when I picked you up in the afternoon, it was quite apparent that you had a headache! Such an unusual sight to see you slumped over in the car, supporting your head with your hand, it was distressing to me! I asked you, “What does the pain feel like? For instance, is it a sharp pain? A dull pain? Or does it cut like a knife?” And you said….

“Yes! Yes! Yes!”

And I said, “N’ n’ n’ n’ n’ n’ n’ no, pick one!” and you said, “sharp pain.” So, noting also that it was on the left side, I gave you Bryonia!

And it didn’t work.

I was very disappointed! Bryonia has always worked so well for you in left-sided headaches with sharp pain, I was really at a loss until you started telling me how cold it was in Mr. Stundon’s room!

The air-conditioner was on full blast, and I have him again for algebra next year! In fact the whole school was cold!

Stupid school! Well, then I knew exactly what the remedy was. Do you see how important etiology is, Shana?

What?

Never mind. So, I asked you if you had ______________ 30C in your remedy kit.

All I had was 200C.

It seemed a bit much, but, you have to go with what you have, right?

Right, and needless to say, it worked! Really fast too.

The potency turned out to be perfect. And we repeated the exact same remedy a few hours later when your headache came back and it worked again! So listen, gang, what remedy do you think it was?

So, how did our 36,000 readers do this month? Well, it seems that all but 13 of you were so perplexed by this case that you didn’t even venture a guess, but out of those 13, only two of you were right; so, congratulations to our two Soulknights readers who knew that “Ailments from Cold/Dry Winds” was Aconite! (Yeesh!)

Now, I know that some of you are going to say, “We didn’t know about it being windy, we thought it was just the cold.” Do you remember this line?
“The air-conditioner was on full BLAST….” What does that mean? Plus, what is the title of this quiz?
Air-conditioning at Mastery Charter School Really BLOWS!

I rest my case. By the way, if you know the etiology, does it really matter that few or even none of the symptoms in the case match the remedy per se? No. That’s one of the many mysteries of homeopathy. When the etiology is recent and clear, we go with an Etiology Prescription, we don’t bother adding up all the symptoms in the case to see which remedies covers them the best. We go with the etiology (the cause). Examples: Ailments after blunt trauma–Arnica. Ailments after head injury–Nat-sulph. Ailments from acute grief or disappointment–Ignatia. Of course, there are other remedies that cover these etiologies as well; but, after an accident, are you really going to repertorize a case, wasting time while the patient suffers, or are you going to give Arnica and then see what you’re left with after it’s over? I think–I hope–you’re going to give Arnica.

Also, some etiologies are very famous–like this one. The point being, do you recognize the etiology even though it’s not in its usual setting? Well, two of you did. Congratulations go to: Daniela Lungu, MD and Aida.

See you back here again next time!!!!
